French President Emmanuel Macron hopes to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future. “Europe, in which I believe, with its multipolarity, which I uphold, must build new rules of trust and security with Russia and should not only agree with NATO. It needs to build (relations.) Only between Europe and Russia.”
According to him, the upcoming meeting will be “long and intense.” Mr. Macron will appear not only as the leader of France, but also as the chairman of the G7. The Kremlin has not yet confirmed the upcoming talks.
Earlier, during a telephone conversation with French leader Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Mr. Putin discussed Moscow’s decision to issue Russian passports in a simplified way to Donbas residents. Mr. Macron and Mrs. Merkel criticized the decision of Russia.
