Following an invitation from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the Sultan of Oman, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan began a two-day state visit to the Sultanate of Oman today by flying into Muscat.
At the Royal Private Airport in Muscat, His Highness was greeted by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.
The two leaders had cordial conversations during which they discussed the enduring ties that unite the two nations and their people.
The Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates have strong ties that are founded on shared history, societal harmony, and the leadership of the two nations’ goals for continued cooperation to assure the growth of their relationships for the benefit of their respective peoples.
The constant communication between the two nations, the high-level gatherings, and the regular ministerial and governmental meetings demonstrate the importance both nations have on strengthening their connections. As a result, the two nations have tight ties at numerous levels.

Sporting relations between the two nations
The two nations also share a history of sporting cooperation. The 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup was held in Kuwait four years ago, and the hashtag “UAE Oman One Win” was everywhere. This highlighted the strong ties between the UAE and Oman in various spheres, including sports.

Non-oil trade between UAE and Oman
According to data from the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre, non-oil trade between the UAE and Oman reached more than AED362 billion from 2012 to 2021, growing at a rate of 98.9% to reach AED46.5 billion by the end of 2021 from AED23.4 billion at the end of 2012. (FCSC).
According to the data, non-oil exports made up 33% of all non-oil commerce during the previous ten years, with a value of AED 120 billion; re-exports made up 45.5% of all non-oil trade, with a value of AED 165 billion; and imports made up 21.5% of all non-oil trade. AED24.2 billion worth of commerce was exchanged between the two nations in the first half of this year, with AED8.8 billion going to re-exports, AED9.9 billion going to non-oil exports, and AED5.4 billion going to imports.
Data from the report on the amount of commerce between the two nations show that non-oil trade exchange increased by 23% in 2013 to reach AED28.8 billion, compared to the amount of trade in 2012.
The Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates have had the greatest rate of trade exchange in 2019 at AED48 billion, while 2021 saw a 10% increase to AED46.5 billion from AED42.3 billion by the end of 2020.
